Creation By DesignBible Trading Cards and More!
Several years ago, our founder, Steven Kaye, was listening to a prominent
Christian pastor speaking on the radio. The pastor said that religion can't
compete for kids attention, against the technology of today. In this day and age of the internet, television and video games, the message of God is too "old-fashioned" to keep up. He said
that that is why kids today are dropping out of the faith at an alarming
rate. As a father and an artist, Steven took this as a challenge. In 2007, he
began working on a project to show Biblical images in a form that was relevant
for today's kids. He chose to use computer generated image (CGI) technology.
After all, that is the format that kids are seeing in their movies, computer and
video games. In addition, Steven's research showed that there was a huge lack
of Biblical-based products for kids in the 6-13 age range. After they finished
with VeggieTales, there weren't really any products to which they could relate.
After several years of hard work, Steven and his team had designed over 200
beautiful Biblical images, and planned for hundreds more. The next decision was how to use the images in
products that would be of interest to the kids. Steven chose to roll out the
images in the form of trading/collectable cards. After all, cards had been the
number Christmas gift for two years in a row. In 2009, the first product, My
Bible Cards was ready to go. In 2010, Steven brought on Larry Carpenter, who had headed up several
Christian publishers and distributors, to serve as CEO. The decision was made
to add additional products to the line. In October, 2010, a more extensive line
of products including a chapter book series, activity books, posters, unframed
artwork and postcards was rolled out. In 2011, line extensions of these
products, as well as new products such as a line of t-shirts and a Bible card
game are scheduled to be added to the line. All of
these new products are designed to help Creation By Design achieve its Mission.
We are dedicated to helping parents, teachers and clergy keep today's kids
interested in the stories of the Bible.
