Higher Purposes

Thriving or Just Surviving? Higher Purposes in the Creation

GENERAL TOPICS:
Purpose of life, Created kinds, Salvation
LEVEL/AUDIENCE:
Non-technical; good topic for non-Christian participants
KEY SCRIPTURES:
   Ephesians 2:8-10, 1 Corinthians 3:7-11, 2 Corinthians 5:17, John 10:10
LENGTH: 30-45 minutes; 45-60 minutes as a workshop
SUMMARY:
The Bible indicates that God created in distinct "kinds," to continue (and diversify) through reproduction. So, other than survival, what is the unique purpose of each kind? Why are lizards here? Cats? Dogs? Camels? Humans?
This presentation illustrates the unique signature, or "quintessence," of several created kinds. This helps attendees to see the aesthetic purposes in creation, as opposed to just ecological purposes, or evolutionism's imagined highest purpose: "survival." This brings a biological angle to the age-old question "What is the purpose of humankind?" or more specifically, "What is my reason for being here?" and helps attendees to seek the deeper meaning that comes from accepting Christ and becoming his workmanship.
